University Of Alabama – Alabama Crimson Tide Located in Tuscaloosa, AL, the University Of Alabama is known best for a two word phrase: Roll Tide! Founded in 1831, it is one of the oldest universities in the American South, and currently plays host to nearly 24,000 students. A school with a rich, progressive tradition, they broke the color barrier in 1963 in an effort to put an end to segregation – the event that has simply become known as “the stand at the schoolhouse door.” Not only was the university breaking barriers in regards to education, but on the football field as well. It was the era of Paul “Bear” Bryant, and a young man named Joe Namath. As Nick Saban enters his first year as a member of the Crimson Tide, the Tuscaloosa faithful are hoping once again to bask in such football glory! 2007 Alabama Crimson Tide Outlook: The sky is the limit. Alabama fans, alum and current students are anxiously awaiting the kickoff of the Nick Saban era. He did amazing things at LSU, found that the NFL wasn't his bag of chips and was then presented with a near perfect opportunity in Tuscaloosa. Without a doubt, the Tide faithful are expecting to win now, and with good reason. Nick Saban will have his athletes ready to play, and reaching their maximum potential by season's end! After grossly underachieving last year, look for Alabama to be in the hunt for the SEC West crown in 2007. Regardless of how the coaches and squads are downplaying the November 3rd match-up, LSU fans are coming to town for more than just a win. If you're a fan of football, mark your calendar; you won't want to miss this game! 2007 Alabama Crimson Tide Schedule

His head coaching career began in the late 1980s at the University of Toledo. He spent time as a defensive coordinator for the Cleveland Browns before going back to the college game at Michigan State. His aggressive coaching style and defensive mindset made him a co-national champion after only 3 years at the helm of Louisiana State University, where he coached from 2000-2004. At that point he choose to accept the head coaching job for the NFL's Miami Dolphins. After two years and lackluster results, coach Saban is back in the SEC, where he plans to restore national football prominence to the Alabama Crimson Tide. Alabama Crimson Tide – Players To Watch
On the offensive side of the ball, John Parker Wilson must bring an element of poise and leadership to the QB position. If he's able to do so, he's got talented receivers in the DJ Hall and Keith Brown who could easily threaten the best secondaries in the SEC. Defensively, cornerback Simeon Castille has the potential to disrupt offensive schemes. He should flourish under the defensive mind and tutelage of Nick Saban, and continue to add to his career interception totals. |
