Auburn University – Auburn Tigers War Eagle! Located in Auburn, Alabama, the burnt orange and navy blue of Auburn University was founded in 1856, and presently boasts a student body of over 23,000. On the football field, the Auburn Tigers bring a consistent threat to the SEC Conference and to any opponent that is unfortunate enough to step on the same field. If the Tigers aren't playing for their own national title run, they're definitely spoiling the hopes of another conference foe. In recent years, Auburn's battles between Florida and LSU (respectively) have been epic to say the least. 2007 is quickly shaping up to offer the same! 2007 Auburn Tigers Outlook:
Over the past three seasons, Auburn has lost much of the player foundation that made them a threat for possible national championship bids. The 2007 squad will have to rely on a few experienced lettermen and the talent of their youth. No doubt, Coach Tuberville will be stressing self-discipline and player responsibility, preparing the youth for a season that will no doubt challenge their mental and physical toughness. They aren't the Tiger to beat in the SEC West, that honor goes to LSU, however, Auburn will be in the hunt. If they can win against Arkansas on October 13th, they'll be in prime position to take a shot at the SEC West vs. LSU. 2007 Auburn Tigers Schedule

If you're from Gainesville, FL, or Baton Rouge, LA, you probably wouldn't stop and help him if he were lying in a ditch bleeding. Bottom line, Tommy Tuberville has taken a sketchy 1990s Auburn football program and turned them into a national powerhouse, playing winning football in the nation's toughest conference. He is synonymous with building programs that excel on and off the field. Auburn Tigers – Key Departures/Players To Watch
Losing Courtney Taylor to the NFL will offer a challenge to the WR corp, however, if there's one thing that there's never a shortage of in the SEC, it's talented receivers. The Tigers also lost top running back Kenny Irons, so it will be interesting to see who steps up to fill his shoes. Senior defensive end, Quentin Groves, will be a force to be reckoned with in the SEC. Look for him to affect the outcome of conference play and overall standings. His defensive teammate, Jonathan Wilhite has consistently improved in the defensive backfield and could also play an important role in Auburn's 2007 success. |
