It's been a rough last few years for Baylor. And when you consider football, you realize, wow! It's been really rough for Baylor over the past few years. Rocked by one of the biggest sports tragedies in contemporary NCAA history, Baylor is searching for a new identity that can be built upon the longstanding tradition of the school that was founded in 1845. The current student body located in Waco, TX, is pushing the 14,000 student mark, and certainly, they're all looking for something to cheer about, and some reason to fill a stadium that holds 50,000 fans.

2007 Baylor Bears Outlook:

Baylor has struggled in recent years, and after instituting a spread offense in 2006, they began their conference play 3-1, yet their woes returned after the loss to starting QB, Shawn Bell. Their spring game offered a whopping 7 total points from both squads. It seems as if the Bears are struggling with more than strategical woes! They need a big win this year – scratch that, they need a HUGE win this year. There is a faint pulse in this team that has some talent, and most of the individuals on the 2007 squad were winners in high school. Someone needs to step up and remind everyone of that!

2007 Baylor Bears Head Coach

Coach Guy Morriss has been with the Baylor Bears since 2003 and at this point, has shared with them a 15-31 overall record. His struggles are based in part on having to compete with national powerhouses such as Texas and Texas A&M for recruits, and in part on taking over a program that has become used to losing. 2007 is a hopeful year for Coach Morriss as they have 3 very winnable games within the first 4 weeks of the season.

2007 Baylor Bears – Players To Watch/Key Departures

After last year's injury to QB Shawn Bell, it seemed as if the year was a wash. Blake Syzmanski stepped in to do his best at filling Bell's shoes, but don't look for him in the starting role in 2007. 25 year old transfer, Michael Machen (yes, the same who played some pro baseball), has become the favorite to start.
