Iowa State University – Iowa State Cyclones It's been awhile since Iowa State has made a lot of noise in college football – or in the Big XII. The school, founded in 1858, and located in Ames, Iowa, has a student body of 25,741. Within that student body, one will find a very loyal fan base. Even during tough seasons, ISU fans will be pushing for their Cyclones to play spoiler in conference match-ups. 2007 Iowa State Cyclones Outlook: The folks in Ames and surrounding areas knew that they could feel the winds of change blowing last season. Those winds blew in new head coach, Gene Chizik. The best word of choice for the ISU 2007 season: Optimism. The Cyclones have an offensive weapon that the rest of the country would love to watch play, if the poor guy wasn't spending a lot of his time on his back looking at the clouds and sky. Quarterback Bret Meyer is a natural QB talent, but he's simply playing on a team that is in the process of an overhaul. Look for 2007 to offer ISU new direction, but a direction lacking in the refinement necessary for success. 2007 Iowa State Cyclones Schedule

Having served as defensive coordinator at Auburn and Texas, he has coached players to award winning seasons, national championships and into the NFL. He brings a youthful energy and enthusiasm to the program in Ames, IA, and was so popular from the get-go, record-breaking season ticket sales have taken place. 2007 Iowa State Cyclones – Players To Watch For the Cyclones Bret Meyer is the man to watch, and if he can get some protection from his o-line, he could be one to watch on the national scale. He's been sacked, hurried, knocked-down and harassed too many times to be wholly effective in past seasons. Wide receiver Todd Blythe will be wearing a bullseye for Meyer, and if the offensive line can improve throughout the season, look for these two to raise a few eyebrows. |
