University Of Kansas – KU Jayhawks

Rock, Chalk, Jayhawk! What exactly does that mean? If you know a fan of the University of Missouri, you'll get a much more entertaining answer, but to the KU faithful, it is the end-all, be-all of college cheers. Founded in 1866, The University of Kansas is nestled nicely into the great college town of Lawrence, KS, and it presently hosts a student body of 28,949. They have always been a dominant force on the basketball court, but recent years have shown the beginnings of a football team that might be considered a “program.”

2007 KU Jayhawks Outlook:

After finishing the 2006 at .500, including a win over rival, Missouri, the Jayhawks showed signs of life at times that resembled some of the top teams in the Big XII conference. 2007 promises to begin in an interesting fashion, and holds the potential of offering a quarterback controversy. Who will be the man: Kerry Meier or Todd Reesing? If the Jayhawks show a definitive improvement in pass defense, they stand a chance to make the Big XII North interesting.

2007 KU Jayhawks Head Coach Profile

Mark Mangino is entering his 6th season as the Jayhawks head coach, and he has made a lot of friends and fans in his short time at the University. I suppose that's what happens when you win some ball games. It will be interesting to see how he deals with the possibility of playing two quarterbacks in 2007, as it seems he'll be likely to pull one if they're not playing to their potential. He's definitely an individual that is willing to speak his mind, and seems determined to get KU to the next level on the football field.

2007 KU Jayhawks – Players To Watch/Key Departures

KU will have difficulty filling the shoes of RB Jon Cornish, but there's a good chance that someone is more than ready to be called upon. Quarterbacks Kerry Meier and Todd Reesing may share time, may be starter and backup, or may be the source of the Mark Mangino's QB controversy.
