Kansas State University – Kansas (K) State Wildcats Kansas State University can be found in the Northeastern Kansas town of Manhattan. The school was founded in 1863 and is presently called “school” by a student body of over 23,000 students. Kansas State has produced a handful of NFL standouts, and have toyed with national prominence over the past couple decades. The school colors, purple and white, definitely suggest some kind of rabid Wildcat – and those colors also put one of the sharpest uniforms on the field in the college game, if I may be so subjective. 2007 Kansas State Wildcats Outlook: After finishing the 2006 season at 7-6 the K-State Wildcats look to improve in 2007 as they are returning some experienced players in key positions. Their disappointing losses late in 2006, including the loss to Rutgers in the Texas Bowl, have allowed suspicion to creep into the picture regarding sophomore quarterback Josh Freeman. As Freeman goes this year, so will the Wildcats. Look for the defense to improve under new D-coordinator Tim Tibesar. The Wildcats will get their first real test in week 1 vs. Auburn. 2007 Kansas State Wildcat Schedule

Finishing his first year at 7-6 was probably a blessing for him, as they could have realistically won 9 or 10 games. Regardless, he got his squad into a bowl game in his first season, which is an impressive feat in the contemporary game. 2007 could offer the former Virginia offensive coordinator a another bowl berth if he can get the full potential from his sophomore QB Josh Freeman. 2007 Kansas State Wildcats – Players To Watch/Key Departures Not that anyone would ever want to put too much pressure on a 20 year old kid, but Kansas State's sophomore QB will be the player to watch early in 2007. Opening the season against an SEC defense will serve two-fold. 1.) He'll probably get knocked around. 2.) The rest of the season should be a trip to Disneyland. Senior WR Jordy Nelson has shown growth through his years at KSU, and it will be interesting to see what kind of numbers he can put up in 2007. |
