University Of Nebraska – Nebraska Cornhuskers Located in Lincoln, NE, the University of Nebraska was founded in 1869, and presently plays host to a student body of 21,675, and a fan base of thousands upon thousands in the great state of Nebraska. 2006 offered a breath of fresh air to a team and a school that has struggled in recent years. Being back at the top of the Big XII North was a familiar feeling, but with a fresh vibe. Giving credit where it's due, it looks as if Bill Callahan has found a home in the Cornhusker state. 2007 Nebraska Cornhuskers Outlook: The 2007 Nebraska Cornhuskers could be “that” team. If they take the same attitude into early season non-conference match-ups against Wake Forest and Southern Cal, the same way they did when they pushed an Auburn team to the wire in last year's Cotton Bowl - the sky is the limit for the 2007 Huskers. Clearly, USC is the favorite in that match-up coming into 2007 with a pre-season rank of #1, but the Trojans have been suspect in years past during early non-conference match-ups. Look for Nebraska be challenged by Missouri for the Big XII North. Regardless of the conference outcome, Nebraska should play in late December or early January. 2007 Nebraska Cornhuskers Schedule

2007 Nebraska Cornhuskers Head Coach Profile I'm trying to think if any other current NCAA coach that has coached a team in the Super Bowl. I'm going to go ahead and say no – if I'm wrong, so be it. Bill Callahan came into Nebraska with one goal: To revive the rich football tradition at the University of Nebraska. What he's done is created a new tradition. A tradition with a new life and a new personality, pleasing fans of old and the young whipper-snappers in the same breath. It will be interesting to see how his career at Nebraska continues to play out, and if he'll become a “Husker for life.” 2007 Nebraska Cornhuskers – Players To Watch/Key Departures It seems as people wanted to immediately hand the starting quarterback job to Arizona State transfer, Sam Keller. However, likely backup Joe Ganz has shown promise, and will definitely play and practice to compete for the job. Wide receivers Maurice Purify and Nate Swift return as very capable play makers, capable of busting big plays out of their hip pocket. Unfortunately, Purify seems to have some problems abiding by the letter of the law. If he's found to be in violation of a substance abuse policy, his season could be shortened drastically or erased from the activity board. |
