Texas Tech University – Texas Tech Red Raiders

If you're a kid in Lubbock, TX, is there anything cooler than being a Red Raider? Founded in 1923, the school now offers “higher education” to a student body that exceeds 28,000. Currently, Red Raider sports is once again on the rise. After enjoying a successful offensive campaign in 2006, the Red Raiders look to keep climbing that ladder of athletic success in the years to come.

2007 Texas Tech Red Raiders Outlook:

If I were a meteorologist I might say that the forecast was hazy. 2006 offered impressive outputs on the offensive side of the ball, and a “rally round the flag” type victory in a bowl game to cap of a season that was measured as a success. 2007 looks to be a year of rebuilding, but with young players able to step into the roles of upper classmen, they may surprise a few people in the Big XII South.

2007 Texas Tech Red Raiders Head Coach Profile

Mike Leach is entering his 8th season with the Red Raiders, and he looks to continue the run to the bowl berth. He has amassed 56 wins vs. 33 losses in his tenure and looks to continue the winning tradition. He is presently working with tools that any NCAA coach would enjoy working with, and should enjoy building some team chemistry in 2007 that could make headlines in 2008!

2007 Texas Tech Red Raiders – Players To Watch/Key Departures

How can a college football fan not be nuts about Graham Harrell? I suppose if your team was playing against him. Regardless, this kid is something special, and if he plays remotely close to the way he played last year, he'll be on pace to set several records for Tech as well as hop into some Heisman conversation. The potential problem for this rising star – the new, untested offensive line.

Can Shannon Woods work out his personal problems with Coach Leach? He led the Big XII in 2006 in all-purpose yardage, and would be an asset for the Red Raiders in 2007. Hopefully he's focused and has learned any lessons Coach Leach has been trying to teach.
