If you don't know Dan Marino then you're not a football fan. Until Payton Manning's historic 2004 season, he held the record for most touchdowns in a season (48). Manning did not surpass the other record from that season for passing yards (5,084). Marino holds 25 other season records, including most completions, most yards passing, most touchdowns total, and best career efficiency rating, to name a few. He was the only rookie quarterback to start in a Pro Bowl. He went on to nine Pro Bowls and he was MVP in his second season. The next year, he took the Dolphins to the Super Bowl against the 49ers. He played in 18 post-season games total, and threw for 4,510 playoff yards. In short, Dan Marino is one of the best quarterbacks to ever play the game.
 
 In college, Dan Marino played at the University of Pittsburgh where he set the same types of records. He remains the single-season record holder for pass attempts, pass completions, and touchdowns. He won the 1979 Backyard Brawl, throwing for 232 yards and a touchdown, and the 1982 Sugar Bowl against the Georgia Bulldogs.
 
 Marino decided to retire before the 2000 season, after some ups and down in the mid nineties. In 1994 he was named Comeback Player of the Year after suffering an Achilles tendon injury in 1993. His final win came against the Seattle Seahawks in the playoffs of January 2000. In September of 2000, his jersey number, 13, was retired at Pro Player Stadium. He was entered into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2005.
 
 Since 2002, Dan Marino has been a staple as an analyst on the pre-game show, "The NFL Today."
