Rich Gannon - CBS

Rich Gannon

Lead Play-by-Play Announcer: CBS

Rich Gannon is one of the most high-profile quarterbacks in recent memory. In all, he played for 18 seasons in the NFL. In 2002, he had his best season with the Raiders, setting both team and NFL records for completions (418) and 300-yard passing games (10). That year he led the Raiders to their third straight division title and a Super Bowl berth in Super Bowl XXXVII. That year he was named the NFL's Most Valuable Player, as well as the Pro Bowl's MVP. While playing for the Raiders, he went to four straight Pro Bowls.

The Redskins drafted Gannon in 1987, where he was quickly traded to the Vikings. He spent twelve seasons with the Vikings, Redskins and Chiefs, before being traded to the Raiders, where he had his best seasons. He holds many records for the Oakland Raiders, including completions (2,533) and completion percentage (60.2 percent). He also has the NFL game record for completion percentage (89 percent). Unfortunately, he also has the record for the most interceptions in a Super Bowl game (five), when he matched up with Tampa Bay's vaunted defense.

After retiring from the NFL in 2005, Gannon moved to CBS as a game analyst. He is teamed up with Kevin Harlan. They call both regular season games, as well as pre-season games for the Green Bay Packers.

Hammers Dropped

  1. I believe when you a commentator you aren't suppose to be bias on your comments. I understand loyalty when you have played for a team, but it is also unprofessional when all you do is bash the other team. Please refrain from being a blow hard like Shannon Sharpe!
