Bianchi returns to Boca

By Football News

Boca Juniors have appointed decorated coach Carlos Bianchi, who is set to begin his third different spell in charge of the Buenos Aires giants.

Boca parted ways with Julio Cesar Falcioni on December 12 and have acted quickly to appoint Bianchi.

"It's a great joy that Carlos Bianchi, the most successful coach in the history of the club, returns to Boca Juniors," club president Daniel Angelici said in a statement.

Bianchi coached Boca Juniors from 1998 to 2001 and returned to the club in 2003 for a one-year stint.

During his time in charge, Bianchi won nine competitions, including three Copa Libertadores titles and two Intercontinetal Cups.

It is rumoured Bianchi's return could pave the way for the comeback of fans' favourite Juan Roman Riquelme, who fell out with Falcioni and left the club earlier this year.
