As the sad individual who was more interested in noting down the scores of a primary school playground game of football than actually playing, it is fair to suggest that Bradley King has been a keen follower of the sport from an early age. Growing up within a stone's throw of Grimsby Town's home ground, Blundell Park, and experiencing the Mariners' impressive descent down the English leagues surprisingly did little to quell that enthusiasm.

Having paired that keenness with a passion for writing, King set his heart on a career in sports journalism. After countless amounts of caffeine and self-doubt had passed through his veins over three long years, he graduated from the University of Lincoln with a first-class honours degree in Journalism in September 2011. He was also awarded the reputable Lincolnshire Echo Prize for Excellence in Print Journalism.

Throughout his studies, King also filled the role of sports editor at the university newspaper, The Linc. He was part of a team which transformed the sports section of the online and print mediums, hugely increasing the quantity and quality of content, as well as gaining access to local sports clubs, including then-League Two side Lincoln City.

After graduating, King took up the role of press officer at local football club, Cleethorpes Town. In his year at the club, he reported on a meteoric rise for the Owls, who were accepted into the English pyramid in summer 2012 after going more than a year unbeaten in the Lincolnshire League.

King has also penned comment and analysis for A Different League, Bleacher Report, Grimsby Town-fanzines The Fishy and Black and White Corner, nineties football blog Forgot About Him and student magazine, Twisted.
