Coach Markarián gives out Peru domestic callup

Peruvian national team coach Sergio Markarián released his list of domestic-based players prior to the big World Cup qualifier match against Chile next Friday and the friendly against Trinidad on March 26th.  Both matches would take place in the city of Lima. 

"We are playing for our World Cup lives against Chile and we have to give our all, It’s a very crucial match for our World Cup aspirations, but we have to feel everyone’s support, “ said Markarián in Friday press conference at La Videna.

Five domestic players have been called up for both matches while there will be several veterans that will be used for the big match against Chile as well as others that will be given a look during the friendly against The Soca Warriors.

The player that stands out the most is  former Peruvian U-20 player Yordy Reyna.  He was the player many were looking at to get a chance to play after his performance with the youth national side and his form with league leaders Alianza Lima.

Another player finding himself in good form is Sporting Cristal’s Irven Ávila.  The native of Huánuco, is one of the leading goalscorers in the Copa Libertadores and has the Celestes fighting for a spot in the next round of that tournament. Cristal Goalkeeper Diego Penny also got the call as did midfielder Carlos Augusto Lobatón, who will only be used for the match against the Chileans.

Christian Ramos of Juan Aurich and Salomón Libman of César Vallejo will be available for Sergio Markarián for both matches

Real Garcilaso continue to show why they are the surprise team of the Copa Libertadortes and their results from the past season have received recognition.  Right back Jhoel Herrera and midfielder Edwin Retamoso were given the mod in order to give more ball recovery and grit as well as play out wide for the national team

But is you look at Sergio Markarián’s callup, there is also a chance to look at the future despite there being a sense of need prior to their match against rivals Chile.

Youngsters like Osnar Noronha of Juan Aurich, Paulo Albarracín of Alianza Lima, Luis García of Unión Comercio and Diego Chávez  Universitario are individuals that will get a good look at by the coaching staff as they look for players to add depth as well as to look at the long term.
