CONCACAF Champions League wrap: Monterrey net five
By Football News
Mexican side Monterrey thumped Chorrillo FC of Panama 5-0 in the CONCACAF Champions League on Wednesday.
The Group 7 clash looked a mismatch on paper and it proved to be as Monterrey made it four wins from as many matches in the competition with a comfortable success.
Abraham Carreno opened the scoring for the winners after 11 minutes before Chilean forward Humberto Suazo doubled their advantage.
And it was quickly followed by Jesus Corona's goal as Monterrey led 3-0 after just 28 minutes.
With the game wrapped up, Suazo and Neri Cardozo got on the scoresheet in the second half as Chorrillo FC's struggles in the competition continued.
American outfit Houston Dynamo came from behind to draw 1-1 with Olimpia of Honduras.
Brazilian Douglas Caetano scored for Olimpia after just 21 minutes but Canadian defender Andrew Hainault levelled 20 minutes into the second half.
And when Olimpia's Bryan Beckeles was sent off with 11 minutes left, they were forced to hang on for a point in their Group 3 encounter.
The other match on Wednesday saw Real Salt Lake of the United States play out a goalless draw with Costa Rican outfit Herediano in Group 2.
