Ajax missed the chance to move within a point of Eredivisie leaders PSV after a goalless draw with Utrecht on Sunday.

Heading into the European winter break, PSV lead Twente on goal difference and Ajax by three points after their 6-1 mauling of NAC Breda on Saturday.

Ajax spurned four one-on-one opportunities at the Stadion Galgenwaard as Utrecht goalkeeper Robbin Ruiter kept the home side in the contest.

Roda JC came from two goals down to defeat VVV Venlo 4-2 on the road despite being reduced to 10 men in the second half.

Barry Maguire put VVV 2-0 ahead shortly after half-time but the visitors scored four goals within 12 minutes to turn the game on its head.

Danilo Pereira was sent off on 66 minutes but Roda held out for the win.

Feyenoord accounted for Groningen 2-1 in Rotterdam to move up to fourth, behind Ajax on goal difference.

Graziano Pelle converted Jordy Clasie's delivery shortly before the hour mark to put Feyenoord ahead and did so again three minutes from time following Virgil van Dijk's equaliser.

Mid-table RKC Waalwijk could not break through against bottom side Willem II in a 0-0 draw.
