Bio

Spanish international, Cesc Fabregas, was born in the town of Arenys de Mar on 4 May 1987. Over the years, he has established himself as one of the elite players in world football, helping to win trophies for both club and country. Primarily a central midfield playmaker, at times he has also been deployed as a winger and as a forward.

Fabregas is a product of FC Barcelona's La Masia youth academy, which he joined in 1997, at the age of 10. During his time there, he idolised the senior club captain, Pep Guardiola, and played alongside the likes of Lionel Messi and Gerard Piqué. Despite impressing at the various levels of youth football, he transferred to Arsenal in 2003, before playing a first team game for Barcelona.

At Arsenal, Cesc broke a number of records, becoming their youngest ever player when he made his debut at the age of 16 in October 2003, and their youngest goalscorer in December of the same year. In the 2004-05 season, Fabregas broke into the first team on a regular basis and helped the side to lift the FA Cup, beating Manchester United in the final. Mid-way through the 2008-09 season, he was named as the club's captain and led a youthful Arsenal side to Champions League qualification. His best individual season for the club came in 2009-10, when he scored a total of 19 goals in all competitions. However, after lengthy negotiations and intense speculation, he returned to Barcelona in the summer of 2011.

Since re-joining the Calatan giants, Fabregas has proved a valuable member of the squad and has picked up a number of major honours, including the Copa del Rey in 2012 and the La Liga title in 2012-13. On the international stage, Fabregas contributed to Spain's 2010 FIFA World Cup triumph, setting up Andrés Iniesta's winning goal in the final, and was also a part of their Euro 2008 and Euro 2012 successes.
