Heynckes urges quick adjustment

By Football News

Bayern Munich coach Jupp Heynckes is hopeful his players have quickly switched their focus to club commitments.

Heynckes' side travel to promoted Fortuna Dusseldorf on Saturday in a bid to continue their perfect record in the Bundesliga.

Bayern have won all seven of their league fixtures this season, scoring 21 goals and conceding just two in the process.

An international break has interrupted the momentum of the Bavarian giants, particularly with the large majority of the club's squad involved in the fixtures.

But Heynckes has demanded that his team focus on domestic football this week in the lead-up to the important fixture.

"It is always difficult when the boys get back from their national teams but you have to focus," Heynckes said.

"That's what I told my team as well, and that's the reason why we already had a training session on Wednesday. There is no other way if you want to win the next game in the league."

The Bayern coach is aware that Saturday's clash at ESPIRIT Arena will not be easy, paying credit to Fortuna who are enjoying their first season back in German football's top division since 1997.

Fortuna are seventh on the table having suffered defeat just once in the league this season.

"As we all know Fortuna Dusseldorf just made it back into the top flight, so after 15 years this will be the first time they play against Bayern Munich," Heyckes said.

"They have been down to the fourth division and made it all the way back up. The people working there have done a fantastic job to make that happen, as has their coach Norbert Meier."
