Bio

Francisco Román Alarcón Suárez, commonly known by the shortened name of Isco, was born in Benalmádena, Málaga on 21 April 1992. An attacking midfielder, he is known for his passing, vision, skill and agility and is widely regarded as one of the best young footballers in Europe.

Isco joined the Valencia youth academy in 2006 and remained there until 2009, when he made the step up to the club's 'B' team. During the 2010-11 season, he made his debut for the senior team and went on to record a total of seven appearances in all competitions throughout the campaign, scoring two goals. In the summer of 2011, Malaga activated the €6 million release clause in Isco's contract and the player signed a five year contract with the club.

His first season with Malaga was a success, as Isco contributed five goals and five assists during the league campaign and the club qualified for the UEFA Champions League for the first time in history. Over the course of the 2012-13 season, he pushed on further, making a total of 47 appearances in all competitions and scoring 12 goals. In the middle of the season, he was given the Golden Boy Award by sports journalists and in 2013 he was named as the winner of the Bravo Award for Europe's most outstanding young player. In the summer of 2013, Isco ended months of speculation by joining Real Madrid for a fee in the region of €30 million. He made a dream debut for the side in August, assisting the first goal and scoring the winning goal in a 2-1 victory over Real Betis.

On the international scene, Isco represented Spain at various youth levels, helping his country to win the UEFA European Under-21 Championship in 2013, where he was named in the Team of the Tournament. That same year, he also made his debut for the senior national team.
