J.League: Kashiwa Reysol 3 Kawasaki Frontale 1
By Football News
After losing the Super Cup to last season's J.League champions Sanfrecce Hiroshima last week, Kashiwa entered the match wanting to make amends.
And they did just that with a thoroughly impressive performance in front of their home fans at the Kashiwa Hitachi Stadium.
Brazilian Cleo, who joined Kashiwa Reysol from Chinese Super League outfit Guangzhou Evergrande in the off-season, made a great start to life with his new club.
He netted in Kashiwa's 1-0 Asian Champions League win against Guizhou Renhe in midweek and opened the scoring in this match after just four minutes.
Cleo had a second just after the hour mark to the delight of the home fans before attacker Masato Kudo added a third.
Brazilian Renatinho pulled back a consolation for the losers but it mattered little as Kashiwa Reysol climbed to second on the table.
