Mazzarri: Cavani not our only option

By Football News

Napoli head coach Walter Mazzarri insists his side do not rely solely on Uruguay star Edinson Cavani for their goals.

Cavani has netted nine times already for the club this season, but has scored only once in Europe, in the 3-1 loss to Thursday's opponents Dnipro.

That goal in Ukraine came with Napoli already 3-0 down and was a mere consolation, but Mazzarri has faith Cavani's team-mates can share the burden.

"He (Cavani) has got a talent for scoring, but I think we have other players who can score too, as they proved on many occasions," he said.

"I'm talking about (Marek) Hamsik or (Goran) Pandev, or even (Lorenzo) Insigne, who's in his first season in Serie A and he's learning a lot, or (Eduardo) Vargas. They're all players who can score and what I'm more interested in anyway is the whole team's result and performance."

Napoli have begun the new Serie A season in promising fashion, they lie third in the league, five points behind last season's league champions Juventus.

They have struggled in Europe however, taking just three points from their opening three games to sit third in Group F.

Mazzarri will hope Cavani and the squad as a whole will find the goals to fire them into the knock-out stages.
