MLS wrap: Toronto deny Dallas
By Football News
FC Dallas let a two-goal lead slip as they drew 2-2 with Toronto FC in what was an enthralling MLS contest at BMO Field on Saturday.
The Western Conference-leading Dallas outfit went ahead through Andrew Jacobson's 34th-minute strike and doubled their lead just before the hour mark after Blas Perez volleyed home his second goal of the season.
Despite the deficit, Toronto refused to go away and they were given hope when Justin Braun scored with six minutes remaining. Darel Russell then smashed home a stunning effort from outside the box in the final minute of normal time to hand Toronto an unlikely point.
A second-half brace from Ryan Johnson was enough to hand the Portland Timbers their first win of the season as they overcame the Houston Dynamo 2-0 at JELD-WEN Field.
The 28-year-old scored his first just after half-time when he bundled home a Diego Chara cross before adding a second in the 73rd minute, this time driving home on his left foot from inside the box.
Elsewhere, the Colorado Rapids scraped past Real Salt Lake 1-0, the Columbus Crew played out a 1-1 draw with the Philadelphia Union and the San Jose Earthquakes shared the same scoreline with the Vancouver Whitecaps.
