Samir Nasri admitted that wounded pride was the chief motivation for Manchester City's FA Cup victory over rivals Chelsea.

City were dominant in the fifth round clash, 12 days after losing 1-0 at home to Chelsea which ruined their 100 percent home record at the Etihad in the Barclays Premier League.

Nasri got himself on the scoresheet, marking his return from injury off the bench with the second of City's two goals, after Stefan Jovetic had netted to give City the lead.

Nasri told The Metro: "After the Premier League game I wasn't really there but in training you saw everyone was a little bit down because we thought we were the best team and we were unlucky.

"Fair play to Chelsea, they played the perfect game to counter us.

"But we knew in two weeks' time we would have to play them again and then we would show them our real faces, we did that.

"They touched us inside when we lost the game at home because we wanted the perfect record."

City's attention now turns to a Champions League clash with Catalan giants Barcelona.

Nasri added: "The good thing is we are really strong, we have our confidence back.

"They (Barcelona) are weaker than they were two years ago, it is going to be a tight game and an interesting game for everyone."
