Peru Primera Division wrap: Dogged Melgar down Sporting Cristal

Melgar earned their third win of the Peruvian Primera Division season on Sunday, beating Sporting Cristal 3-0.

Edson Aubert struck a brace for the victors, with his first coming from the spot, before Bosco Frontan sealed it with a third.

Melgar's celebrations were put on hold momentarily, as a dog took to the pitch late on in the contest at the Estadio Mariano Melgar.

But they posted a win that took them to 12 points - five from league leaders Real Garcilaso.

Sporting, meanwhile, remain level with the league pacesetters, although have played two more matches.

In the league's other clash, Cesar Vallejo produced a late rally to salvage a 2-2 draw away to Leon de Huanuco.
