Premier League preview: Liverpool v Swansea City
By Football News
Liverpool will look to snap a five-game winless run as they host Swansea City in the English Premier League on Sunday.
The Reds were beaten 2-0 by West Bromwich at Anfield in the Premier League last weekend following away draws against Arsenal and Manchester City.
They also suffered a shock FA Cup defeat to Oldham Athletic last month while their latest reverse came in a 2-0 result against Zenit St Petersburg in the Europa League on Thursday.
Brendon Rodgers' men are ninth in the Premier League standings, one point behind seventh-placed Swansea.
The Welsh side had a comfortable 4-1 home victory over QPR in their last fixture with Michu grabbing a brace and will be keeping one eye on Sunday week's League Cup final against Bradford City.
Coach Michael Laudrup will be hoping Michu continues to find the scoresheet after his brace against QPR took his league goal tally to 15 in his debut Premier League campaign.
The last meeting between the two sides ended in a 0-0 draw at the Liberty Stadium as Liverpool continued their record of being goalless against Swansea since their promotion last season.
In all their matches against top-half sides, Liverpool are yet to win (D7 L7) but they have been strong at home recently, winning five of their last seven Anfield fixtures.
Rodgers will be hoping top scorer Luis Suarez can add to his 17 league goals, while strike-partner Daniel Sturridge and midfielder Phillipe Coutinho will both be fresh after missing the mid-week Europa League game through ineligibility.
Swansea have won just one of their last six league clashes on the road but are hard to get on top of early, having only conceded an equal league-best of five goals in the first 30 minutes of matches this campaign.
With the sale of Danny Graham to Sunderland in January, Swansea do not have an out-and-out striker who has scored a goal this season with midfielders Michu, Wayne Routledge (5) and Jonathan de Guzman (5) leading the way.
Both sides have almost fully fit squads to choose from with Martin Kelly (ACL ligament) the only absentee for Liverpool while Swansea are still missing defender Neil Taylor (ankle).
