After celebrations of having an Argentine pope, the reality of the socialeconomic crisis that country is in right now came to surface yet again.

River Plate defender Jonathan Bottinelli had a very rough day today.  By saying it was rough is probably the understatement of the year after the player was kidnapped by four individuals earlier today as he was heading over to visit a friend over in the west sector of greater Buenos Aires.  The incident occurred around 7:30pm local time.

The criminals were looking to steal his car and took him in the process.  After a few hours of being held hostage, the police arrived at the scene and a shootout ensued.

The player would be freed after that incident and now he alongside his agent are looking to see how they are going to follow through with this situation.

Coach Ramón Díaz will ahve to wait and see how everything develops to see if he will play this weekend in the big game River have this weekend when they visit Newell's Old Boys in Rosario this coming Sunday.
