Bio

Robert Lewandowski was born in Warsaw, Poland on 21 August 1988. Known for his hold-up play, his ability to find and create space in the box and his prolific goalscoring, he is widely regarded as one of the most complete centre forwards in Europe today.

Having played for several years in the lower divisions of Polish football, where he was often on the scoresheet, Lewandowski first made a name for himself after joining Lech Poznań in 2008. Over the course of the next two years, he continued his fine goalscoring form and helped the team to win the 2009–10 Ekstraklasa title, finishing as the league's top goalscorer. In June 2010, he signed for Borussia Dortmund and helped the team to win the Bundesliga title in 2010-11.

After an injury to Lucas Barrios, Lewandowski established himself as the club's first choice striker in 2011-12 and scored 30 goals in all competitions as the side retained their Bundesliga crown and won the DFB-Pokal. By now a key part of Jurgen Klopp's Dortmund revolution, his performances helped the team to reach the UEFA Champions League final in 2012-13, which they eventually lost to domestic rivals, Bayern Munich. However, over the course of the entire season, he managed 36 goals in all competitions; his best ever tally. Lewandowski continued his goalscoring form in the 2013-14 season, but in January 2014, Lewandowski signed a pre-contract agreement with Bayern Munich, allowing him to join up with the team ahead of the 2014-15 season.

At international level, Lewandowski made his debut for Poland's senior team in September 2008 against San Marino and scored his first international goal in the same game. He has since managed to establish himself as a key part of the team, earning more than 50 caps and playing in all of Poland's matches at UEFA Euro 2012.
