Brendan Rodgers is expecting 'one or two' more new faces at Liverpool before the transfer window closes.

The Reds have been actively pursuing Inter Milan attacker Philippe Coutinho in the past week to add to their solitary capture of striker Daniel Sturridge from Chelsea earlier this month.

A central defender also remains high on the Anfield club's cards with Vegard Forren originally scheduled to undergo a week-long trial with them prior to agreeing a move to Southampton, which would see Sebastian Coates loaned out to gain regular first-team experience.

Rodgers anticipates the arrival of a handful of players before the window shuts next month and has confirmed that young striker Michael Ngoo has agreed to join Hearts on loan until the end of the season, following in the footsteps of centre-back Danny Wilson.

"We hope to do some business between now and the end of the month. The owners have been brilliant and supporting," he told reporters.

"We know we still need one or two additions more. The club is doing everything it possible can to assist me in that. If we can, great. If not, we'll have to review it again in the summer.

"We've got a young player who'll go out on loan to get some experience but apart from that I don't expect people [leaving and] one or two maybe to come in."
