Taken together, the Seattle Sounders are clearly a favorite to make the playoffs and still very much in the conversation when it comes to the top tier of MLS teams. With the expected addition of Obafemi Martins, they have a legitimate argument for being the best team in the league. Confronted with a serious salary cap problem and the loss of two of their best players, Seattle’s front office has once again managed to put what should be a very competitive and entertaining product on the field. Thanks to the nearly unprecedented success the club enjoyed through their first four seasons, General Manager Adrian Hanauer was retained by the club’s supporters towards the end of last season. If this team manages to play to its potential in 2013, that faith could very well be repaid in the form of silverware.
