Sissoko happy to play a role

By Football News

France international Moussa Sissoko says he was delighted to play a part in his side's 1-1 draw with Spain, thanking coach Didier Deschamps.

The midfielder was a lively substitute in the World Cup qualifying tie, firing a Karim Benzema cross over the crossbar before being involved in the build-up to team-mate Olivier Giroud's stoppage-time equaliser.

"Personally, I am very happy to have been put on. The coach trusted me," the 23-year-old told RMC.

"The penultimate pass that allowed the team to equalise came from me.

"I had another chance but I should have then put the ball in the bottom (of the net)."

Spain and France share the summit of Group I with seven points each from their opening three matches.
