Bio

Tom Marshall is regarded as the English-language authority on Mexican football and has been reporting on all levels of the game – from youth to full national team- for the last four years.

Tom left his native Manchester to work for as a news correspondent in Guadalajara, Mexico five years ago and naturally gravitated to writing about the local soccer scene. Since making the switch to sports, he has written for a variety of publications (ESPN Insider, MLSsoccer.com, ManUtd.com), as well as press agencies and has been featured on BBC World News and Radio Five Live.

Born in 1983, Tom also hosts and produces the weekly Mexican Soccer Show podcast on the North American Soccer Network, has interviewed a range of top names within the game and is fluent in Spanish.

Aside from Mexican football, he has also covered Argentine football, the Copa Libertadores, Copa Sudamericana, as well as other sports like boxing, motor racing and cricket.

When not watching football or going to see matches, his other hobbies include Latin American politics and culture, enjoying barbecues in the Guadalajara sun and taking on ridiculous challenges on Football Manager.

He was once in a mildly successful rock band.
