Vital victory for Uruguay,  defeating Peru 2-1. Suarez was the man of the match with two goals. If he was not scoring the goals, he was creating the opportunities Every time he would get a touch on the ball there was a sense of fear from the Peruvians.

The first goal was a penalty converted by Suarez. The goal scoring opportunity from the inside the area came after Suarez made the Peruvian defender, Ramos fouled him in a desperate situation to ironically prevent the striker to have a shot on goal.

Before heading into halftime the Peruvian Yotún was expelled for assault.

Then in the second half, Suarez scored an unstoppable shot in the top right angle after a great run from Stuani in the left wing.

When all hope was lost for Peru, Farfan pulled one back with a goal from free kick. However,  Peru was not able to make a comeback as Uruguay managed to gain control and continued to create goal scoring opportunities in the last minutes to take the three points. With this result Peru world cup dream is lost as for Uruguay, the hope is still alive.

Injuries...

Forlan was injured in the first half and Cáceres in the second half. After the match, team doctor Alberto Pan stated that Forlan sprained his ankle and Cáceres has a discomfort in his knee which there will be further analyses. Dr. Pan stated that both player will be observed and that neither injuries are serious. Most importantly both players should not be discarded for Tuesday match.

Two yellows and you are out!

Defenders, Lugano and Godín will not be available for the match on Tuesday against Colombia due to accumulation of yellow cards. Both being central defenders the "rational" replacement for these players are Andrés Scotti and youth player, José María Giménez. However, Tabárez may opt to put Cáceres as a central defender (only if he heals in time) alongside the experienced central defender, Andrés Scotti. Then Alvaro Pereira or Fucile or Alvaro González would play as a wing-back to cover Cáceres's natural position. The maturity, José María Giménez demonstrates in the practises leading up to the game will be a deciding factor whether he will get to make his debut for Uruguay's senior team.
