Let’s flip a famous movie line and say that we know how to quit Vernon Davis. I know his 40 time is divine and he can catch a football with his pinky toe, but last season was a nightmare from the player who was taken as a high-level starter in many leagues. Even with the switch from captain checkdown Alex Smith to Colin Kaepernick, Davis still wasn’t a mainstay of the offensive program. Davis did have a gorgeous set of playoff stats, including two-straight 100-yard games. In both of those games, the 49ers were down early by multiple scores. Justin Smith isn’t broken anymore so the 49ers defense is going to ensure they have several leads, and leads are bad for your fantasy score unless you’re dealing with the Patriots. Davis had six catches in Kaepernick’s first start. He had six additional catches in the following six games.
