The Bulldogs did lose Tavarres King and Malcolm Brown to graduation.
However, the depth in the receiving corps is huge.
From key returnees like Chris Conley, Malcolm Mitchell, Rhett McGowan and Michael Bennett to new faces like Justin-Scott Wesley and Jonathan Rumph, the depth is there.
“The guys are very well versed and I think that’s one of the best jobs that coach (Tony) Ball and coach (Mike) Bobo do,” Conley said. “They teach them to be ready. You’re one play away from being a starter. I feel like our guys really practice like that so they’re ready when their moment comes.”
Richt believes the 98-yard, two–touchdown effort by Rumph is only going to give him confidence going forward.
“It was his best day, no doubt,” Richt said. “Today is a day that gives guys confidence and helps him see that he belongs. It also gets fans excited. I like how he finished a touchdown run after he got in to about the three-yard line and was physical enough to knock it into the end zone. I can’t tell you how many times guys come up short in that situation.”
