Jerome Smith is what many call a bruiser on the field. The 5-11, 213-pound Smith is extremely strong behind his pads and has an explosive burst into running lanes.

Smith showed the nation that he was ready for the big time when he rushed for more than 1,000 yards last season; he's the only returning 1,000-yard rusher in the conference.

One of the biggest assets to Smith is his teammate, Prince-Tyson Gulley, another strong runner who allows Smith to minimize the toll on his body due to his physical running style.
