Ancelotti: Beckham will stay at PSG
By Football News
Paris Saint-Germain boss Carlo Ancelotti believes David Beckham will extend his stay with the Ligue 1 title favourites.
Beckham joined the Parc des Princes outfit on a short-term deal in January and has won praise from many for his assured displays, particularly in the UEFA Champions League quarter-final against Barcelona.
And former Chelsea manager Ancelotti feels the 38-year-old's tactical aptitude has been useful to their cause.
"I think he will stay," Ancelotti said. "He has lost pace but has improved tactically. He always shows the right attitude and is not so young any more but is still playing at the age of 38.
"He is very professional, focuses on his work and still has something to offer as a player."
PSG can win the title this weekend if they overcome Lyon at the Stade de Gerland. The French capital side suffered a blip in their last game, stuttering to a 1-1 draw with Valenciennes, but Ancelotti stressed that nerves are natural at this stage of the season.
He added: "The closer the title gets, the more concern there is. It's normal because we feel we have worked very hard, and now we just need one last effort."
Ancelotti's position at the club next season remains in doubt regardless of what happens in Lyon this weekend, and the 53-year-old conceded he has still not come to a decision as to whether he will remain with the champions-elect.
"I am still hesitating. I am not sure," he replied when pressed on the subject of his future.
"There is no news. The season is not finished and I will need to speak to the club at the end of the campaign. There are lots of rumours going around but nothing has been done.
"We have not yet organised any meeting with the club but that will come."
Beckham has still got what it takes to play at the highest level so i hope he stays with PSG if they can afford his wages with the new tax rule in France.
