Ancelotti: No Real Madrid contact
By Football News
Carlo Ancelotti has insisted his desire to leave Paris Saint-Germain has nothing to do with the soon-to-be-available Real Madrid job.
The Italian informed Parc des Princes officials of his wish to cancel his contract a year early after sealing the Ligue 1 title, but his request was rejected.
The Spanish giants will be on the hunt for a new boss in the off-season after confirming that Jose Mourinho will be released from his contract, with Ancelotti among the favourites to take over at the Bernabeu.
But the 53-year-old insists a move to Spain has nothing to do with his desire to find employment away from the French capital.
"I do not know If they (PSG chiefs) understood or not. But they understood that I wanted to leave PSG," Ancelotti said.
"Real Madrid are not involved in these things. It is something between me and the club.
"I want to resign. If the club agrees I can resign. If the club disagrees, then I can't go and I will still be the coach next season."
Despite wanting to leave, Ancelotti insists he has enjoyed his time at PSG and was delighted to bring the French top-flight title back to Paris for the first time since 1994.
He added: "My experience here so far was great. We've had some tough moments but at the end we won the trophy after 19 years.
"To win here was fantastic, especially in Paris. I have no regrets. I think I made an excellent choice when coming over here."
