I was torn between New Mexico’s Kasey Carrier and SDSU's Adam Muema as the best running back in the Mountain West. But after watching more tape of both, Muema was the easy choice. They both have great speed and great size for NFL running backs, but Muema is simply a better runner between the tackles and in space. Carrier goes down too often after the first hit whereas Muema carries defenders. Muema is able to cut on a dime when running outside and downfield.
Carrier’s record-setting 338-yard rushing day against Air Force opened people’s eyes but Adam Muema is the better overall back. With another great season in 2013, he should hear his name called on Day 3 of the 2014 NFL Draft.
