Bio

Bobby Wagner plays middle linebacker for the Seattle Seahawks. He earned multiple All-Rookie team honors with the Seahawks in 2012 and was named to three All-Western Athletic Conference first teams as a collegiate.

Early Years

Wagner was born on June 27, 1990 in Los Angeles, CA and attended Colony High School in Ontario, CA. He played linebacker and tight end for the team, making 125 tackles as a linebacker and catching 37 passes for 595 yards and 11 touchdowns as a tight end during his senior season in 2008. He received All-CIF Central Division recognition and was named All-State second team in California after leading the Titans to a division title. Utah State University was the only school to offer him a football scholarship, and he accepted the offer.

Utah State University

Wagner was installed as a starter at middle linebacker immediately for the Aggies. As a freshman, he made 51 tackles in 11 games and showed great improvement as a sophomore, recording 114 tackles, two interceptions, and seven tackles for loss. After making 133 tackles as a junior, he led the Aggies for a third straight season with 147 tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss, and two interceptions in 2011. He was named All-WAC first team for the third consecutive season and selected as WAC Defensive Player of the Year. He ended his college career with 445 tackles and four interceptions.

Seattle Seahawks

Once a lightly-recruited high school player, Wagner entered the 2012 NFL Draft as one of the best linebacker prospects in his draft class. He was selected by the Seattle Seahawks with the 47th overall pick in the second round and named starter at middle linebacker during training camp. As a rookie, he led the Seahawks with 140 tackles and intercepted three passes while earning All-Rookie team honors from multiple news outlets. While helping guide Seattle to the franchise’s first-ever Super Bowl title in 2013, he made 120 tackles and collected 5.0 sacks in 14 games.
