Buccaneers Sign Peyton Hills To 1-Year Deal

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have signed former Madden cover boy Peyton Hillis to a one-year contract, according to Tampa Bay Times beat writer Stephen Holder. The Buccaneers officially announced it shortly after on Twitter, and they released rookie RB Matt Brown in order to make space for Hillis.
Hillis’ career has been on the down swing ever since he beat out Michael Vick for the cover of Madden NFL 12. After rushing for 1,177 yards and 11 touchdowns during the 2010 season for the Cleveland Browns, Hillis has failed to eclipse 600 rushing yards and three touchdowns in a single season.
After a disappointing season backing up Jamaal Charles with the Kansas City Chiefs last year, the 27-year-old will be coming to the Buccaneers where he’ll be expected to back up or block for incumbent starter Doug Martin. This will be the fourth team of Hillis’ career, and he’ll be given an opportunity at both running back and full back.
