Kaizer Chiefs were voted the best sports team in 2013 by the South Africa Sports Awards on Wednesday morning in the breakfast function at the Gallagher Estate in Midrand.

This comes as the reward to Amakhosi after winning both the Absa Premiership League title and the Nedbank Cup in a single season.

It wasn't the only award the Kaizer Chiefs won. Goalkeeper and captain Itumeleng Khune was awarded with two awards as the sportstar of the year and sportsman of the year.

The South African International goalkeeper was voted the best goalkeeper in the league last season and he has been the number one goalkeeper for Bafana Bafana since 2008 when he was in his early 20s.

Kaizer Chiefs had an outstanding 2012/2013 season  that saw them play their opening twelve matches unbeaten in their run to winning their first league title since 2005 under the guidance of English born coach Stuart Baxter
