When K Phil Dawson came into the NFL in 1999, everyone questioned his leg strength. That always bothered him, since he had hit some long field goals in college at Texas. In a 7½-minute stretch in the fourth quarter of a 23-16 loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday Night Football, he hit 50- and 52-yard field goals. For the season, he was 7-for-7 on field goals of 50 yards and longer and 24-for-34 (70.6 percent) overall in 14 years with Cleveland.
