Colts Safety Lefeged Arrested
Indianapolis Colts safety Joe Lefeged was arrested Saturday in Washington D.C. on gun-related chargers, according to a tweet from the Indianapolis Star’s Mike Chappell.
This unfortunate news couldn’t have come at a worse time, with all the Aaron Hernandez hoopla recently going down. Of course, with the Hernandez news swarming all things NFL right now, that at least helps cover up Lefeged’s mishap a little bit.
Even if that is so, this looks awfully bad for Lefeged. Fans, teammates, coaches and front office personnel never like to see their players get in trouble with the law, but when you get in trouble with guns after one of the league’s biggest stars was just arrested and will likely spend many years in prison for allegedly shooting and killing a man... It’s going to be very hard for anyone to forgive Lefeged.
It’s hard to tell whether or not Lefeged will be cut or not. His charges aren’t nearly as big as Hernandez’s, but he also had nowhere near the star power of Hernandez either. If I was to guess, I think GM Ryan Grigson would have no problem cutting ties with Lefeged.
If he is let go by the Colts, the biggest blow will come in special teams. He really carved out a niche last year as a gunner on the punting team, with his speciality being downing punts inside the 20-yard line. He was a backup at best as a safety, and even then wasn’t someone whom many fans were happy to see come off the bench.
If he wants to come back, Lefeged better have a good explanation.

The string of arrests since the Super Bowl this year is unreal. Players putting themselves in bad situations and often times hanging with bad crowds. It's a shame that the offseason is filled with these headlines
