We ran a series of bold predictions as part of our preseason countdown series. In it, we asked each conference to select division winners. The Pac-12 staff took "bold" literally, deciding to eschew Oregon and Stanford in the North Division. They predicted Oregon State vs. UCLA. Wrong and wrong, but they had the right idea. Turns out Stanford and Arizona State will meet in the title game, likely in Phoenix. The Cardinal appeared determined to gift a spot in the Rose Bowl to Oregon, falling to USC last week. But the Ducks said no, Stanford, you beat us and you deserve to go, and fell on their own swords today against Arizona. Meanwhile, the Sun Devils overcame the sorcery of running back/linebacker Myles Jack and springboarded to a five-point win against the Bruins today. ASU (9-2, 7-1) will host the Pac-12 championship Dec. 7 if it can beat rival Arizona next week. Stanford (9-2, 7-2) will host the game if ASU loses. The Cardinal beat the Sun Devils, 42-28, earlier this year. The winner, of course, will gain entry to the Rose Bowl, most likely against Ohio State.
