Newcastle making big moves

On the heels of Cabaye's decision to become a small fish in a big sea, Newcastle wasted no time in announcing the loan signing of Luuk De Jong. This move was uncharacteristically bold for Newcastle, as Luuk is one of the hottest young prospects in the Bundesliga for Borussia Mongladbach, after being one of the hottest young prospects in the Eredivisie for Twente. The loud thud you're hearing could be Papiss Cisse's jaw dropping. Cisse hasn't been very consistent. De Jong could be the strike partner Newcastle has been looking for in a 4-4-2 alongside Remy.

In other news, Newcastle are moving for a Frenchman, surprise surprise, Clement Grenier, who has been much coveted by everyone. Grenier, currently at Lyon, may shoot down the offer simply because Lyon may offer an easier path to the CL. Unless Newcastle can offer better wages, that move may fall flat.

For fantasy owners, whether or not De Jong lands on his feet running is a big question. However, Newcastle has a lot of options up front currently, and they have a midfield that can supply that strike force with balls. The midfield is established, and signing Gouffran or Ben Arfa is now even more attractive. If Newcastle can sign Grenier, and the cost to pick him up for owners is around or less than 7,then sign him. That is, if Newcastle can sign him.

Dare to dream.
