Toronto FC continues their off-season construction this time by acquiring Brazilian goalkeeper Julio Cesar on loan for the 2014 season.
The 34-year-old Brazilian will join Michael Bradley and Jermain Defoe on the Toronto roster in what appears to be a major title contender in MLS. Cesar has most recently played for Queens Park Rangers, but has not been able to find consistent playing time between the posts. With the move to Toronto, Cesar hopes to gain valuable preparation in time for the World Cup in June.
Per league rules, the terms of the acquisition were not released.
"We are committed to creating a culture of winning at TFC, and there are few people in the world of soccer with a proven track record of consistently getting results that Julio has," said Toronto FC general manager Tim Bezbatchenko at a press conference. "We are very excited to bring him to Toronto FC."
