Vols LB coach Tommy Thigpen has been named national recruiter of the year by Rivals.com.
Thigpen played a key role in the Vols' top five recruiting class - Butch Jones' first full signing class at Tennessee.
Thigpen helped play a role in landing a list of players for their commitment to Tennessee. Five-star's Josh Malone and Jalen Hurd headlined Thigpen's list, which also included four-star prospects defensive end Derek Barnett, linebacker Dillon Bates, defensive back Evan Berry, offensive lineman Dontavius Blair, defensive back Rashaan Gaulden, defensive back Cortez McDowell, defensive back D'Andre Payne, defensive tackle Michael Sawyers and linebacker Chris Weatherd.
On top of these prospects, three-star's in athlete Elliot Berry, linebacker Gavin Bryant, athlete Neiko Creamer, linebacker Jakob Johnson, defensive back Emmanuel Moseley and defensive tackle Jashon Robertson rounded out Thigpen's long recruiting list.
Thigpen has been coaching in the SEC since 2009 where he was Gene Chizik's linebacker coach at Auburn. Thigpen was part of the Tiger's 2010 national championship team.
