LB Ryan Shazier, CB Bradley Roby, S Christian Bryant and co-defensive coordinator Everett Withers (James Madison) will all be missing in Columbus next season and now defensive line coach Mike Vrabel is gone, too. The former all-pro LB and OSU alum is joining former Penn State head coach Bill O'Brien in Houston as the linebackers coach for the Texans. Vrabel said via Twitter on Thursday evening:

I am thankful for everyone assoc with TOSU for 3 great years and my family and I are excited to join the Houston Texans as the LB coach.

The move means a big hit to Ohio State recruiting. Vrabel was one of the top recruiters for the Buckeyes and perhaps one of the best in the country. Urban Meyer is certainly a great recruiter and OSU basically recruits itself, but this is a huge loss to the staff from an X's and O's standpoint and recruiting.

Vrabel and Withers were pivotal in getting a verbal commitment from Raekwon McMillan out of Georgia, who is considered the top LB prospect in the country this year (he enrolled at OSU last week for the spring semester).

Considering the losses on defense and the struggles defensively this season for the Buckeyes, this is not good news for Ohio State fans.
