Germany managed to hold onto a 1-0 lead over France to advance to the Semi Finals for a fourth straight time. An early first half goal from defender Hummels was enough to see the strong European side knockout their rivals France.

France have had a good tournament so far but from the kick off where in trouble against a strong German side. The Germans controlled the game from the get go and pressed the talented French side deep into their own half. The ball movement was quick and kept France off the possession early on. Germany looked dangerous pushing forward and it was inevitable that they would find the breakthrough. The Germans would win themselves a free kick and Hummels would be the unlikely player that gave the Germans the lead. Kroos would curl in the free kick from the left side and Hummels would outmuscle his marker and managed to get his head to the ball and guide it past Lloris and into the back of the net.

France now find themselves a goal down and knew that they needed to press the Germans and find a way back into this match. The Germans were well organised in the back line and made it difficult for the French to find a way through. They held their line well and limited France's chances at goal. Valbuena would have the best chance for France before the halftime break, but Neuer was there to get a cruicla touch on the angled shot and then the defender did well to block Benzema's follow up shot. 1-0 for the Germans and Franc with 45 minutes left to keep their World Cup aspirations alive.
The second half and France would control the game early on. They held possession well and looked for a way to break down the well organised German defence. They did expose some weaknesses of the German back-line but failed to capitalise on them after beating the offside traps. Still the French pushed on and it wasn't until the dying minutes of the match that they thought they had levelled the scoreline. Benzema played a nice one-two pass and managed to get himself into the box down the left side. As he advanced closer to goal all he had to do was beat the keeper. Neuer though stood strong and managed to get a strong hand on the ball to deny the Madrid striker and bring his team a step closer to the World Cup finals.

Brazil have set themselves up for a meeting with Germany after their 2-1 win against their South American Rivals Colombia. A very early goal from Thiago SIlva and then a superb free kick by Luiz saw the host nation progress to the Semi Finals to meet Germany.

Brazil had the perfect start as they found themselves in the lead after only 6 minutes of action. Colombia kicked the game off and looked to press forward immediately. The game was end to end action as both teams looked to gain control of the midfield. An early corner kick to Brazil would change the tempo of this match. As Neymar whipped in the corner from the left side towards the back post, no one had bothered to pick up Thiago Silva as he made his way toward the 6 yard box. The ball would beat everyone else and land perfectly for Silva to have the easiest of finishes and tap the ball into an empty net. 1-0 for Brazil and Colombia's dream World Cup run coming to an end as they found themselves down a goal for the very first time.

Colombia now knew they needed to push the game to Brazil and find that equalising goal. Though the more players they pushed forward left themselves open for the counter and Brazil definitely had the speed to punish the Colombians. Though the attacks from Colombia looked rushed and unorganised and was easy for the Brazilian defenders to clear the ball. Brazil would take control of the game soon after as the Colombians struggled to hold onto the possession. Brazil had chances to double their lead before the halftime break, but shots from Hulk and Oscar were well defended by the keeper to keep Colombia in this game.

The second half kicked off and Colombia needed to find a way to get the equaliser and keep their dream World Cup run alive. Colombia definitely looked the more livelier of the two sides as they pressed forward and tried to catch the Brazilian defence off guard. They pressed up well and alsmost found themselves back on level ground, but the offside flag denied them the goal. Then just as Colombia were threatening the Brazilian goal, David Luiz would score a tremendous free kick and send the home fans into rapture. The free kick was taken from about 35 yards out and it dipped and swayed its way into the top right corner giving the keeper no chance. 2-0 and Brazil now in full control as Colombia had 25 minutes left to try and turn this game around. The ref then gave Colombia a lifeline as Julio Cesar was judged to have brought down Bacca in the box and a penalty was awarded. Rodriguez the tournaments top scorer stepped up and scored his sixth goal of the Cup as Colombia now were only a goal down. In the end the Brazilians were to strong and are now set to meet Germany in the Semi Finals. Though a major blow was seeing Neymar carried off after a strong tackle as we all sit and wait to hear if he will play again.
