Danny Amendola Playing, But Will Be Limited
By Allen Kim
The New England Patriots may have WR Danny Amendola returning to the lineup against the Atlanta Falcons, but his reps will be limited in his first game action since he gutted it out in a Week 1 win over the division-rival Buffalo Bills, according to Jay Glazer of Fox Sports.
With Amendola’s lengthy injury history, limiting his playing time is the most prudent move to make. They certainly don’t want to risk re-aggravating his groin injury, and it may take another week or two before he’s back to playing at full speed.
The Patriots may use Amendola the same way the Atlanta Falcons have been using Roddy White as a decoy. If he can draw some attention and free up some of the other receivers to get open, it could certainly help the Patriots offense, which has struggled at times over the last three weeks.
Rob Gronkowski is also eyeing a return to the lineup in Week 6, and once they’re both at full strength, the Patriots could go on a tear once Tom Brady has his full complement of weapons available in the passing attack.
