Bio

Eric Fisher is a second-year offensive tackle for the Kansas City Chiefs. After earning All-American honors at Central Michigan University, he was selected by the Chiefs with the first overall pick of the 2013 NFL Draft.

Early Years

Fisher was born on January 5th, 1991 in Rochester, MI and attended Stoney Creek High School. As a senior, he was named an All-State honorable mention lineman. Despite the honor, he was labeled as a two-star recruit by Rivals.com and received minimal interest from collegiate programs.

Central Michigan University

Fisher received only a few scholarship offers and ended up enrolling at Central Michigan University in 2009. As a junior in 2011, he started at left tackle for the Chippewas and earned Third-Team All-Mid American Conference recognition. He was recognized as a First-Team All-American by Pro Football Weekly following a stellar senior season and also was a First-Team All-MAC selection. During his time at the school, the Chippewas won two bowl games.

Kansas City Chiefs

Fisher became the first MAC player ever to be chosen first overall after the Kansas City Chiefs selected him to open the 2013 NFL Draft. He joined Joe Staley of the San Francisco 49ers as the only two Central Michigan players ever to be selected in the first round of the draft. He agreed to terms on a fully-guaranteed deal worth $22.1 million with a $14.5 million signing bonus on July 26, 2013. Despite playing left tackle in college, he started 13 games for the Chiefs at right tackle as a rookie.
